It’s DISCO FRIDAY!!!
For pure just dance music whether it be swing dancing or
just out on the dance floor dancing, “Born to be Alive” by Patrick Hernandez is
probably one of the best in my opinion.
Even though I seem incapable of walking across a room
without tripping over myself, from the first time I went to a discotheque, something happened when I got out on the dance
floor because lo and behold, I could dance. It felt very natural for
me and I felt confident to do it in public in front other people. I attributed any dancing ability I had to my musical
background which is all about notes, beats and rhythms. At the time, I
was very petite in the weight department so I was a perfect partner for swing
dancing. If I wasn’t dancing with a partner, then it
was boogieing the night away with my girlfriends. However, I preferred to not dance with straight men because they tended to do the “White Man’s Overbite Dance” nor did I care for slow dancing.
Guess one can find anything on YouTube because I did not know there was a video for this song. It is
pretty cheesy in it visual portion but the music is what was the most important in disco and this
song is dancing magic.
