This is just such a proud, proud fashion moment for me! (I am third from the left).
I always attributed my fashion sense and love of all things
clothing related (shoes, purses, jewelry) and shopping to my paternal Grandmother,
Winifred Baldridge, who raised me.
However, I see in this picture, long before I was adopted by my paternal Grandparents, that it started with my biological Mother’s Mother who
I am named for, Dorothy Gallagher. I
love her outfit which embodies completely the chic sense of style I would like
to believe I have. And pearls, I have
always been crazy about pearls and the majority of the time, I am wearing a strand or two every day while clothed in work attire.
My most recent pearl purchase was made last year when I
bought a Jaqueline Kennedy replica of her famous three Chanel pearl necklace. However, the use of the word pearl though is really
a misnomer because Coco Chanel never offered genuine pearls in her collection. Coco used glass beads made in Czechoslovakia instead.
In this photo also is my Aunt Lorraine who is just six months older than me and my Aunt Ginny who is 15 or 16. It took me a bit to process this photo due to the shock I had when I saw it because I was not aware I had contact with my biological Mother’s side of the family until I met some of them in 1980 when I was 21 years old. But through the magic of Facebook, I am reconnecting with them and it is just astounding how much alike I am to them despite not being raised around them and I am so happy to have this big new family in my life now and for the future.
